Gabe Newell, everyone’s favorite knife-loving brony recently provided an update on Half-Life 3 in a podcast interview (though of course he did not confirm whether Valve was actually working on the game or not). He stated that unexpected development issues have prevented the studio from filling fans in on the game. Gabe added that the company’s sealed lips regarding Half-Life is in the best interest of the gamers.

He goes on to say that, “The problem is, we think that the twists and turns that we’re going through would probably drive people more crazy than just being silent about it, until we can be very crisp about what’s happening next.” I can understand and respect that sort of work ethic and dedication to the fans. The best way to not let somebody down is to give them more than what they were expecting. If they don’t know what to expect then you’re already in good territory.

It’s been 5 years since the last Half-Life game, it’s been a very long time, but I trust Valve to have good reasons for delaying the game so much. They might be known for never making a game with the number 3 in it, but it’s only because they care a lot about the quality of the end product. I’ll wait as long as it takes for Half-Life 3, I know that Valve will deliver.
