Gamers who were disappointed with the official ending of Mass Effect 3 can now hopefully have some peace, as Bioware has dropped the official details on its new ending content. Mass Effect 3: Extended Cut, which will be completely free, will expand on the game’s finale in various ways so that players feel like their decisions had more of an impact.
Bioware states that this new Extended Cut is “an expansion of the original endings to Mass Effect 3.” It wont change the endings in fundamental ways, instead “it expands on the meaning of the original endings, and reveals greater detail on the impact of player decisions.” It will accomplish this by including the following:
The Extended Cut expands on the endings of Mass Effect 3 through additional scenes and epilogue sequences. It provides more of the answers and closure that players have been asking for. It gives a sense of what the future holds as a result of the decisions made throughout the series. And it shows greater detail in the successes or failures based on how players achieved their endings.
It will also include “deeper insight to Commander Shepard’s journey based on player choices during the war against the Reapers.” The DLC will weigh in at around 1.9GB, and will be available next week on June 26 for PS3, Xbox 360, and PC in North America and July 4 for PS3 in Europe. Let us hope that this extra content finally gives players what they wanted to see, and allows everyone to finally have some closure.
