It looks like the live-action adaptation of Rurouni Kenshin is getting more spotlight as it’s release date gets ever closer. Along with the promotional blitz which includes a possible PSP game, we now have this TV spot, which features the song “The Beginning” by the Japanese band ONE OK ROCK and was posted on the movie’s official site yesterday. Here we get a closer look at Kenshin doing what he does best: being a general badass swordsman, while at the same time being a shy, quiet cutey.
We also get a good look at the various other characters from the story that we’ve all come to love, like Kaoru, Sanosuke, and Yahiko. The movie is an adaptation of the manga by Nobuhiro Watsuki, and hopefully it will stay true to its source material. I’m cautiously optimistic about whether this will be good or not, simply because Japan (like Hollywood) has a track record of making horrible adaptations of great anime/manga. We’ll find out soon enough if it lives up to the hype when the film hits Japanese theaters on August 25.
