Speculation has been running wild for the past few weeks that Sony is set to unveil a brand new slimmer model of the PlayStation 3. Today it looks like we might have the first images of this possible redesign.
The images in the gallery below originally came from Anatel, the Brazilian Agency of Telecommunications, but they are no longer accessible. They have been uploaded to the site Tecnoblog and they give us a pretty good look at a new odd looking PS3.
The design features a top section which appears to be movable, which might indicate a top-loading disc drive that is much cheaper to produce. This is similar to the design of the old PS2 Slim that Sony released years ago.
The Sony Brasil documents found on the Anatal site actually mention three new models: CECH-4011A, CECH-4011B and CECH-4011C. Tecnoblog claims that these are variations of storage and that they will come in 16GB, 250GB, and 500GB flavors respectively. For those curious, the current PS3 Slim series has model numbers listed as CECH-30xx.
