The promotional campaign for Code Geass: Akito the Exiled is quickly ramping up, with a new trailer and artwork being released as the first episode’s theatrical debut approaches.
Akito the Exiled is not set in an alternate universe, instead it is a side story that takes place in 2017 a.t.b. This was around the time that Lelouch takes up his alter-ego of “Zero” and starts amassing his army for a rebellion. The story here takes place in Europe, where a young pilot by the name of Akito Hyuuga is trying to fend off the Holy Britannian Empire with the rest of the E.U. army. They fight with the hope of gaining both their freedom and keeping their home.
The trailer looks pretty nice, with great animation and very good CG battles. I’m assuming since there will only be 4 episodes, that they have a considerably higher budget to work with. The first part of this new spinoff anime is called “Yokuryū wa Maiorita” or “The Wyvern Has Landed.” It will hit Japanese theaters on August 4.
