Uniloc, a software company situated in Luxembourg, is filing a software patent lawsuit in response to Mojang’s “Mindcraft” (no, really, that’s what the official document says), EA’s Bejeweled 2, and Square Enix’s Android-based remake of Final Fantasy III, among other very specific games from other companies.

The patent itself basically says that Uniloc has rights to the ”system and method for preventing unauthorized access to electronic data.” In other words, any game which communicates with a server to ensure that the player of said game actually owns it would be in violation of this patent, according to Uniloc.

After succeeding in a patent lawsuit against Microsoft in 2003, Uniloc has filed many lawsuits against other software development companies since.
