The Japanese newspaper Nikkei has reported that Square Enix plans to support Dragon Quest X for an entire decade with DLC. They plan to release a new batch of DLC every ten weeks over the course of ten years, and they seem to really like the number ten. The source also reports that the company is expecting “mid to long term earnings” from this business plan.

Dragon Quest X is an upcoming MMO for the Nintendo Wii. It is going to have a subscription fee, and could very well take its place, holding the record for a game with the longest downloadable content schedule in the history of console games. They are placing a lot of faith into the idea of this Wii MMO.
