Scott Pilgrim vs. the World: The Game was a great little 2D brawler/beat-em-up that was released around two years ago. It had a lot going for it, like awesome 16-bit sprite graphics, solid gameplay, and a soundtrack so good that it’s worth listening to by itself. My only major complaint? No online co-op of any kind.

But now according to the latest release schedule posted by Major Nelson, the XBLA game is about to finally get what players have always wanted: being able to beat up tons of thugs with other Scott Pilgrim fans from all around the globe. The DLC is called the “Scott Pilgrim: Online Multiplayer+Wallace Pack” and it will cost 400 MSP. A bit pricey and late, but at least fans now have the option.

So as the title says, players will not only get online multiplayer, it looks like they will also receive a brand new character to use: Wallace Wells, the lovable and funny “cool gay roommate” of Scott Pilgrim in the graphic novel and movie. What weapon he will use is unknown, but maybe it will be the power of love itself. This new DLC is set to be released on August 19.

Update: It’s coming to PSN as well, more details to follow later according to Ubisoft.

“Tis true. DLC is coming to Scott Pilgrim for both XBLA and PSN. More details at a later date.”
