Dean Hall, the man in charge of DayZ, says that he “really hopes” that DayZ will be successful enough to be ported to consoles.
“You’re not going to put it on the consoles if you’re only going to sell 100,000 units or something like that,” he said at Gamescom. “DayZ will be driven by its PC development and it will innovate on that. And, once we’re at a point, we’ll take it and do a Mac version, 360 and PS3.”
Later, when he was asked if he contacted any of the console developers, he quickly replied, “We’re meeting with them here.” Porting a game of this nature to a console would require a massive overhaul in the menu system and how they would handle the controls is challenging enough, it would be interesting to see how this turns out.
