So during the showcasing of Dark Souls: Prepare to Die Edition at Gamescom, this footage surfaced of a PvP mode the like of which we have never seen in a Souls game before. Apparently, somewhere in Oolacile there is a place that lets you participate in 4-player deathmatches in an arena. In this arena, you instantly respawn after being killed. Nobody is a dark spirit in this PvP mode, which is perhaps the strangest part of all.
With the arena the way it is, one could forsee area-of-effect attacks being abused even more than usual, which isn’t exactly a good thing by any stretch, but a skilled player can usually still overcome such things. With the fact that it is impossible to gank in this game mode, countering things like “Wrath of God spammers” and those of similar ilk will be much easier. That on top of the fact that you respawn so quickly, so if they defeat you using cheap tactics, you don’t have to wait long to get your revenge.
This Prepare to Die Edition/Artorias of the Abyss DLC is shaping up to look like a whole new game in itself, so this is really just fantastic, From Software continues to flatter their audience because they can. This PC port of Dark Souls is set to release on August 24, and the extra content provided in this port will be distributed on consoles later in the year.

Do u get any kind of rewards like souls or iteams from arena pvp in the dlc?
You don’t get any rewards, but you do get ranked. Every consecutive win in the arena will stack onto a win streak. Once you lose a match, the streak goes down to zero. The arena is simply for the enjoyment of PvP (or unenjoyment if you count the fact that everyone in the arena spams Wrath of the Gods, healing miracles, and is constantly trying to backstab you). I think the arena could have been better, but it’s a step in the right direction at least. Hopefully the next Souls game will improve upon the idea.
