The Legend of Zelda: Hyrule Historia is a 248-page hardcover encyclopedia which covers everything there is to know about the series. And while sources say it wont be out until January 2013 at the earliest, the book has already topped the Amazon 100 best sellers list in only 24 hours.

The news was confirmed today by the book’s publisher Dark Horse Comics. It was neck and neck with the E L James’s controversial novel Fifty Shades of Grey for awhile, but it eventually won the battle and now it sits at the top.

The Hyrule Historia includes new never before seen concept art, the history of Hyrule, an official chronology of all games’ stories, plus even more content. There’s even an introduction by legendary game designer and the creator of Zelda, Shigeru Miyamoto.

Along with all that, Akira Himekawa also contributes an exclusive comic to the book. He is responsible for illustrating 10 volumes of the The Legend Zelda manga which is published by Viz Media. His contribution to the Zelda universe was a recap of the events in Phantom Hourglass for the DS, which was published in 2010.

Finally, Dark Horse notes that the cover currently being used for promoting the book is not final, and might change before release. Fans who want to get their hands on it should act now, the book is currently on sale for $20.99, instead of its regular price of $34.99.
