During the Lollipop Chainsaw ‘Summer Appreciation Festival’ event held in Japan this Saturday, Grasshopper Manufacture had some good news to share about its latest title. CEO of the studio Suda51 and Kadokawa Games CEO Yoshimi Yasuda announced that the game, which was a joint project between the two companies, has shipped over 700,000 copies worldwide.
Suda51 confirmed that this is the highest number of shipments for a game in his company’s history, dwarfing the very disappointing sales of the highly underrated Shadows of the Damned which only sold 24,000 copies in its first week in the US. To celebrate the occasion, Suda debuted the first ever trailer for his new upcoming game, Killer is Dead.
The trailer has not been made public yet, but those who’ve seen it say that it looks very similar to his previous cell shaded games like Killer7 and No More Heroes. It also features stylish effects similar to those used by Lollipop Chainsaw. As to what was actually shown, it was a man with a cybernetic left arm and wielding a katana and fighting with his right hand.
Suda also promised that the game would include lots of hot girls, so that’s definitely something to look forward to. Killer is Dead is planned for a 2013 release for PS3 and Xbox 360.
