Less-than-hopeful news possibly surrounding the development The Last Guardian has surfaced once again, as another collaborator from Team Ico has resigned from his position at the studio. The man in question is Kenji Kaido, and though we aren’t sure if he played any role in The Last Guardian, he worked as a producer and product manager for both Ico and Shadow of the Colossus.

He released a statement on Twitter which gave us the news (which was translated by GameLife), saying, “This August, I left Sony Computer Entertainment. My plans for the future are undecided as of now, but for the time being I’m going to continue my summer vacation.”

Sony has been reluctant to release any estimated release times on The Last Guardian because Team Ico has apparently been running into technical difficulties during the game’s development. As a result, Sony has been bringing in external Western studios such as Santa Monica in order to get through the process quicker. Perhaps this bothers employees, or perhaps there’s something else entirely. We really don’t know much about what goes on within Team Ico these days, and although Sony still says that the team is “working on [the game] very hard,” many onlookers are beginning to lose hope in the idea of this game ever being released, so this is just another chunk of news which is possibly related to it.
