Good news for fans of Arkane Studios’ stealth-action game Dishonored. Bethesda is now reporting that not only is the game selling well, its sales have exceeded expectations. While no specific numbers were revealed, the publisher told Destructoid that this won’t be the last time you’ll be donning a steam-punk mask.
Bethesda PR chief Pete Hines told the site that the sales numbers were great and especially impressive since the game was a new IP going up against franchises like Resident Evil and Assassin’s Creed during the month of October.
“I can tell you that Dishonored is far exceeding our sales expectations, which is especially cool considering it’s new IP facing a host of well-established franchises this quarter.”
Hines went on to add that the game did extremely well both in retail and digital stores during Thanksgiving weekend. This was likely helped by the nice amount of discounts the game received on Black Friday and beyond.
“We did terrific numbers again this past weekend, both in stores and on Steam, where Dishonored was listed as the #1 selling title over the holiday weekend. And Dishonored has really sold well overseas.”
Finally, Hines made sure to thank the fans for giving the game a chance and supporting it, adding that the idea of more games is now certainly on the table.
“So, we’re very pleased and appreciate all the fans that have supported Dishonored and Arkane. We clearly have a new franchise.”
So far, so good for Arkane and Bethesda with the series. I can’t wait to see what they end up doing with the next game.
