An unnamed source has revealed that the Dual Shock controller will not be implemented in the PS4. The source disclosed its involvement in developing an upcoming game for Sony’s new console code-named “Thebes.” Apparently, the controller has undergone several changes in its existence and is not in the image of the Dual Shock anymore.
According to the source, Sony’s Research & Development department are trying out something a bit more “revolutionary.” The new controller for the PS4 will include biometrics sensors around the grips, and will also include an LCD touch-screen interface.
A second source also related to Sony has said that PlayStation engineers are “trying to emulate the same user interface philosophies as the PS Vita.” It’s most likely referring to the touch-screen capabilities of the controller as well as close compatibility between the handheld and the console.
Even more interesting is that this source claims that more details regarding the PS4, previously “Orbis” now “Thebes,” will come within the next few weeks not months. Sony has yet to confirm or refute all of these claims.
If this proves true, then we have ourselves a huge story coming up. Stay tuned for more details.
