Project X Zone has been the biggest tease to American 3DS owners since it was released in Japan last October. With over 50 playable characters from 29 different franchises comprising the libraries of Namco Bandai, Sega, and Capcom, fans outside of Japan were begging for the crossover title. Their prayers have now been answered as the game will be coming to North America, Europe and Australasia.
The strategy-RPG will feature more than 200 characters total and they will fill the roles of both friends and foes. Iconic playable characters include Chris Redfield and Jill Valentine from Resident Evil, Mega Man X and Zero, Ryu and Ken from Street Fighter, and even Dante from Devil May Cry. If you’ve played a game from Japan in the last 30 years, then chances are it will be represented in Project X Zone.
As for who we can thank for getting this gem localized outside of Nippon, my eyes are pointing at Katsuhiro Harada. The Tekken producer tweeted back in September that he was very confident he could get Namco Bandai to do it if he kept bugging them. It seems to have worked and now we can all die happily knowing that we were able to play “the ultimate cross-over title.”
Project X Zone will arrive on the 3DS for us yankees sometime this summer. Now go home and family man, but also make sure to check out these latest screenshots for the game.
