Whore of the Orient

Whore of the Orient is the new love child from the studio behind LA Noire, and sources cite that development has been stopped as the development studio has been laid off. KMM Interactive comprised of former Team Bondi’s staff members were working on Whore of the Orient, a thriller set in 1936 Shanghai, China. KMM is reported to not be working on the game anymore, however, the company has yet to shut its doors.

When new details of the title emerged last year, we learned of its setting and that it was in development for next generation consoles. Whore of the Orient would use the same technology implemented in LA Noire. It was rumored to be completed in 2015, taking significantly less time to develop than the former.  In spite of that, Whore of the Orient never actually acquired a publisher. While it can’t be safely confirmed that the studio is closed, development on the game has halted.

Doug Mitchell of KMM has commented on this developing story saying the studio is actively looking for a publisher, ”Whore of the Orient is a unique and extraordinary story and game, and we are still actively pursuing the right investor to partner with.”

It sounds like even though the game’s future remains uncertain, its studio has not given up on it. Given Team’s Bondi’s past controversies regarding LA Noire’s development, it remains to be seen whether Whore of Orient will be completed. More details on this story are sure to follow.
