Toonami is back with a vengeance, especially in terms of ratings that is. The latest numbers for the night of June 8 were released earlier this week and show massive gains for the Saturday block’s most popular anime shows. According to Zap2it, “new episodes of Bleach (12 a.m.), Naruto (12:30 a.m.) and One Piece (1 a.m.) ranked #1 in their respective timeslots among adults 18-24 & 18-34 and all male demo[graphic]s.”

Soul Eater at 1:30 a.m also saw some impressive returns and ranked #1 during its timeslot among adults 18-24 and all men. If you want to know what those numbers looked like, Bleach had 1,405,000 viewers, Naruto snagged 1,336,000, One Piece followed with 1,127,000, and Soul Eater pulled off 1,056,000. Also impressive is the fact that old shows like Inuyasha and Cowboy Bebop still managed to rake in 914,000/866,000 and 836,000 viewers respectively.

Toonami seems to be on a role lately, and if this trend continues then hopefully the block will grow and even get moved to earlier in the night by Adult Swim. Who knows, maybe one day we might even see it return to weekdays.
